Sarah, Jane, and Mary Seymour are three sisters who have always been close. They grew up in a small town in the Midwest, and they always dreamed of getting married someday. But they never expected to get married the way they did.
In 2015, Sarah married her long-time boyfriend, John. The wedding was a traditional affair, with a white dress, a veil, and a large reception. But Sarah couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing.
"I felt like I was just going through the motions," Sarah says. "I didn't feel like I was really getting married."
A few months later, Jane got engaged to her boyfriend, Tom. Jane had always been more unconventional than her sisters, and she didn't want a traditional wedding. Instead, she and Tom eloped to Las Vegas and got married in a small chapel.
"It was perfect," Jane says. "It was just the two of us, and it was exactly what I wanted."
Mary was the last of the Seymour sisters to get married. She met her husband, David, while they were both working at a summer camp. They fell in love quickly, and they got married a year later.
Mary's wedding was a mix of traditional and unconventional elements. She wore a white dress, but she also had a tattoo of a dragon on her back. The ceremony was held in a church, but the reception was held in a barn.
"I wanted my wedding to be a reflection of who I am," Mary says. "I'm not a traditional bride, and I didn't want a traditional wedding."
The Seymour sisters' weddings are just a few examples of the many ways that brides are redefining romance today. There is no longer one right way to get married. Brides are choosing to do what feels right for them, whether that means eloping, having a small ceremony, or having a large reception.
"Getting married is a big step," Sarah says. "It's important to do it in a way that feels authentic to you."
Jane agrees. "Your wedding should be a celebration of your love," she says. "It should be a day that you'll remember for the rest of your life."
Mary adds, "Don't be afraid to break the rules. Your wedding is your day, and you should do whatever you want."
The Seymour sisters are an inspiration to all brides who are looking for an unconventional way to get married. They show that there is no right or wrong way to do it, and that the most important thing is to do what feels right for you.
